Chartered in Colorado in 1975, Self Storage Association was formed to give those in the self storage industry a place to come for: information education representation, and discounts on the products and services you need to do business.

Self Storage Association’s Mission

The Self Storage Association’s mission is to provide self-storage industry professionals with effective support and guidance to create, protect and enhance self-storage business practices. SSA is a forum for all professionals who strive to improve the quality and profitability of the self-storage industry worldwide.

A member-based association, Self Storage Association facilitates communication, networking and business opportunities, provides a forum for continuing education and promotes effective public policy related to the self-storage industry.

Who belongs to the Self Storage Association

Self Storage Association members are a diverse group of progressive, forward-thinking companies looking to improve their business through a better understanding of the legislation that affects self storage, improved customer service, learning and using the latest in technology, and marketing appropriately to their potential customer base.

Self Storage Association members represent nearly 6,000 member facilities and vary from those that are just getting into the business to those that have been in the business for decades. SSA members include those that are just building their first facility to those that operate over 1,000 facilities.

The Self Storage Association has members in every state in the U.S. and international members in 17 countries.

Self Storage Association has over 130 vendor members who offer a wide range of products and services to the industry. Vendor members produce and sell everything from locks to roofing to door numbers to insurance. These vendor members support the association through membership, participating in Self Storage Association Trade Shows and sponsorship of Self Storage Association events.

Self Storage Association Leadership

Self Storage Association is a non-profit organization, governed by a dedicated group of volunteers known as the Board of Directors. This team leads and directs the association toward our short- and long-range goals for the benefit of our members and the advancement of the industry.
